Just a final thought before I give the impression that I have nothing else to do of a Sunday ;-) ...
Once you've signed up, if you want to test it out and you can't think of anything to say at this point, it doesn't matter. Just try posting something so you know it works...

If any of you know HTML, you can include that in posts so that you can post links and so forth. (For the rest of you, we'll show you how to post clickable links etc. next week.) But please don't go mad uploading images at this stage. We only have a finite amount of server space to play around with, so we'll discuss the protocol for posting images etc. next week.

In last week's lecture, I mentioned a story (either macabre or humane, depending on your viewpoint) from Wired about the growth in digital retouching of photos of deceased or stillborn babies. Here is the link to that story; and here is a related one. (Links will open a new browser window.) Be warned, though, the reports do carry some images which you may find unpleasant.

So, the invitations finally went out... Nice to see so many elaborate hotmail names! Now I wait with baited breath to see if anyone can or will talk to this thing. Just a couple of provisos:

1) If you received a blog invite, that doesn't mean you are necessarily enrolled in FTVMS 203. I just worked off the list of attendees at the first lecture. It's up to you to check you're actually enrolled on the paper.

2) If you haven't received an invite yet it is either because you didn't come along to the first lecture (tut, tut and thrice tut) or because I couldn't read your email address properly (and some truck driver from Iowa is now wondering why he's been invited to join a Technoculture and New Media blog). Let me know asap by email (l.goode@auckland.ac.nz) if you still need an invite.
